Hi there,
I'm looking for folks who have cruised Alaska, & can give a 1st timer some pointers.
I'll be on the Pacific Princess for 2 weeks on June 11th & I'm really feeling the pressure.
Questions I'd like to know about range from:
What are the:
"Must see" & Must do" things that are the best value for a really tight budget?
Do cruises have radios/CD, or DVD players in their rooms?
I tried to contact the Cruise line directly, but so far nothing.
I'm wondering if that's because I booked last minute?
Any help, pointers, or suggestions are greatly appreciated
Thanks!
Hugs & bright blessings : )
My mom has taken several cruises to Alaska ans she has loved them all. The cruise lines are pretty much self contained and have a standard agenda that will keep you busy. Relax and enjoy the cruise and then after you get back start planning your real vacation to Alaska...
The Cruise lines pretty much all just cruise the southern end of Alaska down to Vancover Canada. But you can get a realitively cheap vacation seeing Alaska via the Alaskian Railroad which has a pretty decent tour operation. You can book flights through the Alaskian railroad into and over Northern Parts of Alaska not accessable by land.
Or if you at some point in your life find that you want to go all and live in luxury than book one of the barge 5 star hotels that float up and down the rivers.
There are also some eco-tourism companies that do Alaska....
But Alaska also has state ferries that are quite reasonable in cost that take you to some of the more remote areas.
So enjoy your vacation relax and let the cruise lines do the work get what you can out of it and then see Alaska for real the next time.
