laundered Passport

My passport went through the washer and dryer. The cover looks a bit worn, but the photo page is intact.I am traveling soon. Will this be a problem? Anyone had this experience? Going to the D. R. for a week on United.

Going to DR I can't imagin it would be a problem, make sure you have other pictur Id though.
You might contact the ?? Dept. of Passports..... or whoever handles these things, to double check. If you had a problem it would most likely be re-intering the US.

I did the same thing, and complicated matters by not drying it properly so mold grew inside. I had no problems using it to get home.

If it happened while you were in another country and the entry visa stapled inside the passport were destroyed you could have some work to do, but otherwise it should be fine. All they really need is that photo page and a blank page that will take a stamp. If the empty pages are trashed you should be able to request more on short notice.

A few years ago I went to visit a friend in BC Canada. We took a bike trip, and long behold we came across a storm. My passport got all wet. Then while I was studying in China i accidentally washed my passport. There weren't major hassels given to me. I managed to leave the country and return for my studies. However, while trying to extend my visa in china one immigration really gave some hassel over the fact that my passport was half intact. I think the lady was having a bad day because in the end my visa was extended. Best thing to do is if you have time replace it. If you there isnt enough time then go to DR and once back in the states take it to a government office and ask if it is still valid. I have been told that as long as the area where the picture is located is intact and without any cracks then there should be no problem whatsoever.

good day and enjoy your trip.

my friend got questioned in a small neighborhood post office about his

they said he had to get another one and had to show a birth certificate..

he went to big city downtown office and they were fine with it

put it between a few books to flatten out wrinkles

    DO NOT alter anything

    you may be ok
