I've never been attracted to cruises, but my family would liket to take a vaation together, and it seems like the best option. There are 8 of us total. me= 40, Sis=27, bro= 38, brother's wife 33, their kids, 9 &14 and mom= 64. Mom's got mobility and hearing problems, 9 year old is ADD, sister has different interests and aesthetics than the rest of us.
Anyone have any experience with Alaskan cruises?

Re: Alaskan Cruise
Wed, April 30, 2008 - 11:26 AMnot specifically, but i've heard that cruises through national geographic and similar groups offer a more nature-focused experienced, so may be worth checking out...

Re: Alaskan Cruise
Wed, May 7, 2008 - 11:10 AMUnfortunately the Alaskan Cruises only cover the southern part of Alaska to Vancover Canada. The true adventure lies elsewhere.
I would personally prefer:
The Alaskan Railroad...which has many of its own adventures which is quite affordable and for a decent price you can see most of Alaska.
or
an ECO-Travel Organization called: Alaska Discovery children must be over 14 (but you still might call and see what they can do for you). Guide services, floatplane, boat charters, expedition equipment, tents and meals runs about $1500 a person.
